NimBUS for Database Monitoring

DB2 Database Monitoring

The DB2 Monitoring Probe monitors the internal DB2 performance using more than 120 parameters. Alarms are generated when critical thresholds are crossed, and all the data that is collected is forwarded to the NimBUS service level manager for historical reporting and trending purposes.

Example metrics that are collected include:

Instances

  • number of local connections
  • number of remote connections
  • number of gateway connections
  • created agents ratio
  • agents registered
  • agents waiting

Database

  • locking information (locks held, lock waits, deadlocks, etc.)
  • sort information (number of sorts, sort time, sort overflow, etc.)
  • buffer pool and I/O information (number of reads, writes, times, etc.)
  • SQL statement counts (commits, rollbacks, selects, etc.)
  • row counts
  • internal counts
  • application connection counts
  • login information
