VMware ESX Server Dashboard

What it shows: ESX Host Resource Usage with VM Status

Key concepts you can apply:
Categorically and comprehensive monitoring of ESX host resources; CPU, memory, disk, network and system.  Metric values shown are active text objects frequently updating themselves for real-time health perspectives.  The VMware graphic has propagating alarm objects which launch detailed guest OS and application dashboards.  Resource usage trend reports are easily accessed by selecting the Performance Report button.

Key concepts you can apply:
This VMware dashboard underscores the extreme creative flexibility inherent in NimBUS Dashboards.  The cool 3-dimensional graphic shows a single ESX host with 16 guest machines, each serving various business functions including email, web, Blackberry, database, file, print server and more.  Each graphic element is configured as an active alarm object and will pop-up a filtered, color-coded alarm list when selected.

What it shows: Service Components and End-User QoS

Key concepts you can apply:
This dashboard shows critical servers supporting an online business service. It also includes an object (leftmost) showing the end-user's experience with the online service. Note the response time metrics between each server - these are active text objects that update themselves at each poll interval. Selecting the end-user and server objects will launch a second-level detailed dashboard. Also included at the top of this dashboard are SLA compliance details.

A complete listing of networked technologies and services is depicted with status indicators (on the left), and to aid in correlating degrading services to a geographic region a national map is included to the right. Notice the response time indicators (listed lowest-left in the dashboard) showing network latency between locations.

What it shows: Bandwidth Capacity for Global Interfaces

Key concepts you can apply:
This dashboard example is enhanced by including a map of the world. Laid on top of the map are line objects that can have any data source linked to them. In this instance the lines are utilized to show network connections between global locations. Network bandwidth capacity is monitored across the various interfaces and when thresholds are crossed the lines will change colors according to the alert severity.

What it shows: Network Locations with Status Visibility

Our customer monitors the IT infrastructure on oil rigs throughout the Gulf region. Importing a map and then placement of picture objects that represent the oil rigs provides a nice birds-eye view of this managed environment. Drilling into the oil rig objects will launch a second level dashboard that shows the configuration and status of network components.

This dashboard utilizes a blue background with simple, but effective, line objects to represent various business locations. Alarm filters are defined per line object and when alerts should occur at any given location their highest level severity will be displayed. The right side of the dashboard view has an array of meters that categorize and count all open tickets and include alarm indicators when ticket counts rise to warning levels.

This dashboard demonstrates extreme flexibility in NimBUS data collection and status display! Our partner, Center 7, has crafted this creative dashboard to monitor the inventory in their office soda machine.  It provides real-time visibility necessary to address low inventory levels, and should the unit temperature begin to rise to a warning level a service person can be contacted before the refrigerated product is compromised. Regardless of the IT or business technology, i.e. network device, server, or soda machine - if status data is available and accessible NimBUS can monitor it and display it in interesting dashboards.

Key concepts you can apply:
This dashboard example demonstrates NimBUS automated monitoring for McKesson Electronic Medical Records (EMR) applications and services. The dashboard shows connectivity and response time monitoring for stationary and mobile EMR application users. Backend databases housing patient records are monitored for integrity and transaction performance.
